One of the strengths of Joomla is the ability to use an on-line WYSIWYG editor to write articles for your website. Joomla does not limit you to the default editor either with the use of Joomla extensions you have a variety of editors to pick from. You can install an editor and see if it works better then the default editor for your needs.
But with Joomla you also have the ability to turn off the WYSIWYG editor that allows you to write or edit an article without the limitations of a WYSIWYG editor. You have complete control over the html and css code in your article. The majority of WYSIWYG editors for Joomla do limit the client side code you can use. Most editors do not allow the use of iframes or JavaScript but if you write or editor your article without using the WYSIWYG editor you can use both iframes or Javascript.
So if you want to use iframes or Javascript and have more freedom and control over the client side code in your article often the best solution is to turn off the WYSIWYG editor and write your article entering your own client side code.
Special Note: Joomla by default does not allow server side code in articles. So even if you do not use a WYSIWIG editor you will not be able to enter server side code such as PHP in your articles. There are ways to include server side code in an article which will be discussed in an upcoming tip.
