Fortune is a Unix/Linux based program that displays a quote when the program is called.  Henrik Aasted Sorensen's wrote a php script that allows the use of fortune files on a website.  This module is a packaging of Henrik Aasted Sorensen's PHP-fortune script in a Joomla module. The module includes three fortune files. Currently the module only displays fortunes.

To add, remove, or edit fortunes  the fortune files needed to edit manually once the module is installed. Fortunes are based on two files a text file where the fortunes are located and an index file which ends in dat extension. The text files can be edited or created in an online text editor or any text editor then uploaded to the server. The format follows the standard Unix/Linux fortune format. The new or edited text file should be placed in fortunes directory. Once the new or edited files are uploaded the script updatefortunes.php needs to be ran to create/update the index files which end with the dat extension. To remove a whole fortune file delete the fortune file and the corresponding index file.
